Good weather does come after bad.
Got back to Dover yesterday afternoon to a wild windy day. However, this morning the skies had cleared and the wind was pretty calm.
Pilot called and asked if I'd like to go tonight. Of course my answer was yes.
Caren is currently on the ferry coming back from France and Fraser was in London after his few days in Jersey. Ollie is in the car coming down from the Cottwolds.
We leave the marina at about 1.30am tonight and the swim should start around 2.30 - 3 am. That's only a short bit of night swimming as the sun comes up at about 4.30am here.

Caren's uk number will only work for the first few km out into the channel. So best to text my Australian number if you have a message or messages on Twitter work great too.
Should also be able to follow the boat on one of the ais sites mentioned two blogs ago.
I'm feeling in good place physically and mentally courtesy of Ollie and Vicki and some great swimming in a lake and a few squad sessions too. Thanks so much for them having me stay with them for a nice long weekend away from Dover.
As always there is a chance that weather conditions or forecast could deteriorate but it seems unlikely (touch wood) this time.
For those following from Melb or Syd it means I will be swimming by about midday Wednesday your time.
I won't stop swimming till I run out of water.
Thanks for all the support
Love AV
English Channel attempt in July
G'day,
To those of you I know, I've set this up to document some of the stuff you might like to keep track of as I attempt to swim the English Channel in July this year (2011). To all others - welcome to my mid life crisis.
My tide window is 7th July to 18th July.
Pop back from time to time and come July I hope we can keep you up to date during the swim. On the right is a link to my Twitter feed which we expect to be able to update during the swim. If you also sign up to Twitter it's probably the best way to send messages on the big day. I'd sure love to get a few!
I will also post some blogs in the lead up to keep you all informed on likely swim day and time.
I've trained hard and met some fantastic people on the journey - I cant believe how generous everyone has been with time, advice and support - my plan is to make you all proud.
Most of all thanks to Caren (I adore you), T and Lucy for putting up with a mostly absent husband and father for the last year. Big expensive make up holiday in France and Spain coming soon. Lucky I know how to save on the ferry ticket!
Thanks everyone, AV.
